Best Orthopedic Sandals for Women — Find Comfort and Stop the Pain!

Editor’s Note: This post has been completely revamped and updated for accuracy on May 2022 and reflects an up-to-date selection of the best orthopedic sandals for women.

Have you been dealing with foot pain and struggling every time you have to wear a pair of sandals? Are you looking for a pair of orthopedic sandals to provide more support to your feet and legs? Several conditions require wearing orthopedic shoes such as severe cases of flat feet, overpronation, plantar fasciitis, hammertoes, rolled ankles, or any other foot condition that is affecting your walking gait and giving you foot and leg pain.

Foot pain will cause you to feel exhausted and worn out, which will keep you from exercising. Orthopedic shoes will provide relief to your feet and help treat your foot condition, and you will notice that your overall health benefits from them.

I am a firm believer that comfort should always come before style, and orthopedic sandals have proven to be extremely effective in treating and minimizing foot and leg pain during the summer seasons.

There are certain orthopedic sandals that I have fitted before that provide excellent arch support to help relieve the tension of your muscles, bones and tendons in your feet. These orthopedic sandals are lightweight and flexible at the same time, to allow the feet to move naturally with a stable base of support and prevent your feet and legs from easily getting tired.

I have been working for a specialized shoe store for the last 10 years helping women find the correct type of shoes and orthotics to reduce or fully eliminate the foot and leg pain that they were having. We specialize in women with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fitting as well.

We need to carry top quality shoes that are available in all widths, since that’s the only way we can guarantee to fit every woman.

I have seen first-hand the positive impact that a good pair of orthopedic sandals can have on a woman, especially if you have foot conditions that require you to get more support from your sandals.

I need you to know that you should never insert a pair of orthotics inside your sandals for extra support since the orthotic will end up moving too much inside the sandals and you won’t get any of the benefits that the orthotics have to offer.  I wanted to clarify this since it’s a very common question several women have asked and seem confused about.

I will show you a selection of the best orthopedic sandals for women shortly, but first I want to make sure you know your exact foot size and the features that these sandals have to offer. In addition, if you are going to be ordering your sandals online you need to be absolutely sure of your foot size or you will end up wasting a lot of time and money having to return them.

Please keep in mind that these orthopedic sandals are not bulky and they will look like most regular sandals. Here is an example of how one of the styles look like:

Let me show you which shoe brand you want to start getting familiar with if you are dealing with foot conditions that have led to foot, leg, and back pain.

Orthofeet Sandals — The 5 most Important Features!

Let me explain why I firmly believe that Orthofeet will be a great choice for you.

Orthofeet is a brand that offers orthopedic and well-fitted sandals which are biomechanically engineered built in with unique features and a comfortable fit.

In addition, these sandals are made with specific features and therapeutic detailing to help facilitate mobility and offer great comfort and protection for feet with specific foot issues, sensitive feet, and even bad posture.

These sandals enhance comfort and protection by also eliminating pressure points especially on bunions and hammer-toes.

Their sandals are designed to fit the exact shape and contours of your foot.  Most importantly they are available in all widths including narrow, medium, wide and extra-wide widths.

These are the 5 most important features that the orthopedic sandals that I will describe below will provide to your feet:

☑️ Arch Support

The built-in arch support of these sandals will minimize the impact that your feet and legs take every time they come in contact with the ground. This feature will also help align your feet and legs, allowing you to walk straighter and preventing you from putting pressure on parts of your body where you are not supposed to.

☑️ Lightweight and Cushioning Soles

These features help prevent your feet and legs from easily getting tired. The soles of these sandals come with targeted support areas that eliminate pressure points and offer superior comfort and protection for sensitive feet and for those women who suffer from diabetes, neuropathy and rheumatoid arthritis.

☑️ Extra Depth Design

The extra depth design and wide toe-box eliminate pressure on bunions and hammer toes. This feature will also prevent the top of your feet from rubbing against the top of the sandals.

☑️ Targeted Heel Support

If you are suffering from Plantar Fasciitis and heel pain, these sandals will minimize the impact that your heels take every time they come in contact with the ground. There is extra padding and cushion around the heel area to keep it supported and protected.

☑️ Rounder Toe-Box

This feature will prevent your toes from overlapping each other or rubbing against the side of the sandals.

Wide Women's Sandals With Arch Support

With no doubt, their line of orthopedic sandals will change the quality of your daily routines.

Don’t forget…

It doesn’t matter how many features a particular shoe style provides, if the shoe is not fitted properly, you will not get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer. What’s even worse, you can end up creating all sorts of foot issues to your feet such as blisters, calluses, and corns.

  1. I have a narrow heel and wide foot in front. I was looking on the website for the brands/styles that would be best for me, but could not find a list. (another reader also mentioned this problem) I wear running/walking shoes and have to put orthotic in due to flat feet. I also want to find some nicer looking shoes for dress. I do not like Mary Janes.

    • Hello Holly,

This article that you commented on describes the best orthopedic sandals for women. In which particular article you are not able to see the shoe recommendations?

Are you planning on wearing the orthotic inside your dress shoes? Orthotics will only fit in running and walking sneakers, boots, and Mary Jane shoes. Orthotics won’t fit in flats or high heels. However, there are certain dress shoes that provide more support than others, but before I send you a list with specific recommendations I need to know whether you are planning on wearing your orthotics inside your dress shoes or not.
