Do you wear orthotic inserts and are having a hard time finding stylish boots that can fit the orthotics? When you are dealing with the need to fit orthotics in boots, finding fashionable options can be a challenge. The good news is that shoe companies have begun making boots that not only are stylish but also cater to the needs of women who rely on orthotic inserts. In light of my extensive experience in shoe fitting, I’m here to present you with a curated list of fashion boots for women who wear orthotics.

I have helped hundreds of women with different types of foot conditions and shapes such as long, slender toes, high arches, high insteps, a wide base, and a narrow short heel… you name it! Some other women who visit the shoe store have short toes, flat feet, and quad heels! With that said, your feet are uniquely shaped and there is no one-size-fits-all. So, it’s important to keep in mind that what might have worked well for some women I have helped, might not work as well for others.

The Advantages of Wearing Orthotics

Orthotics are customized or over-the-counter insoles designed to provide support and improve foot function. They are often prescribed to help alleviate various foot conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, flat feet, or overpronation. While orthotics offer significant health benefits, they can make finding the right pair of fashion boots a bit more challenging, yet not impossible.

Orthotics For Foot Pain

Please note that not all orthotics are the same. Some women wear 3/4 length orthotics while others have to wear full length ones. Some orthotics take up a lot more space than others inside of the shoes, but I can confidently tell you that I have fitted several different types of orthotics in the boots I will show you shortly.

The Search for Stylish and Comfort in Your Boots

Below are some key features to look for when shopping for fashion boots with orthotics in mind:

1️⃣ Removable Insoles: Seek boots with removable insoles, as this allows you to replace them with your orthotic inserts while maintaining the boot’s original structure.

2️⃣ Arch Support: Opt for boots that provide ample arch support, which complements the function of your orthotics and enhances overall comfort.

3️⃣ Adjustable Fit: Boots with adjustable laces or straps can better help accommodate orthotics and ensure a snug and comfortable fit.

4️⃣ Wide Widths Options: The brands that I will show you offer wide width boots, which can provide additional space for orthotics without sacrificing style.

Take a look at the description below each boot to find out whether it can accommodate your specific foot shape (narrow, medium, wide, extra wide), as well as what features the boot provides, and the size that you should order to prevent your longest toe from rubbing against the front part of the boots. Just like every woman is different, every foot is different, which means there is no such thing as a perfect shoe brand or shoe style that will work for everyone.

One of my key takeaways from my many years of experience is that many women tend to associate foot problems with wearing shoes that are small, however, wearing shoes that are too big can also bring all sorts of foot issues! Thus, the utmost important thing is to wear any kind of shoes in the correct shoe size. You can’t imagine the number of women walking around with boots/shoes that are either too short or too loose for their feet.

Find Out Your Correct Shoe Size and Improve Your Online Shopping Experience

Did you know that there is a study by the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society that showed that 88% of American women wear shoes that are too small? There is nothing more uncomfortable than wearing the wrong size shoe! Be aware that your foot shape and size can change over time, so I recommend getting a fitting every 6 months. You should try the shoes wearing the socks that you would normally wear.

Ensuring you know your foot length and width is the first step to finding the correct boots. Thereafter, with your accurate measurements, you’ll have a reliable reference point for shopping online, and this will give you a broader range of choices for any kind of shoes online. Certainly, if you identify a brand that consistently fits your measurements (length and width), it will be much easier to shop online without the hassle of having to go to a store and try on many pairs.
