Are you flat-footed and been experiencing foot or leg pain? Furthermore, have you been diagnosed with overpronation and have been looking for a pair of supportive sandals?
Overpronation is a condition in which the arches of the feet roll inwards or downwards when walking, and it is also commonly known and referred to as flat feet.
When women overpronate, they put pressure on parts of their bodies where they are not supposed to, and this leads to foot and leg pain, as well as other serious issues in the future such as lower back problems.
The good news is that I recently found a specific sandal style that has been the most effective one in treating overpronation, and will also help align your feet and help you walk straighter.
If you are overpronating you must wear a pair of good supportive sandals. By good supportive sandals, I mean sandals that provide good arch as well as ankle support.
Most women that are flat-footed tend to overpronate, since when they are weight bearing, their feet tend to collapse and turn inwards due to not having an arch to prevent the feet from collapsing. However, a shoe/sandal with sufficient arch support will prevent your feet from collapsing.
Finding a good pair of sandals that you can use if you have overpronation can be a challenging thing, especially if you don’t know what styles to look for. In addition to providing good arch support, you need to find a pair of sandals that will fit the shape of your feet perfectly, since sandals that are too narrow or too wide will make you more prone to developing foot issues such as blisters, calluses, and corns.
There is a particular sandal style made by Keen that has proven to be the best sandal for overpronation. Women love this sandal because it’s extremely versatile, and they can wear it for short/long distance walks or for different types of activities due to the great amount of support that they provide.
Sandals for Women with Overpronation — Before and After
Let’s start by taking a look at an image of a flat-footed woman standing barefoot. Do you notice how her feet are collapsing and turning inwards?
Now let’s take a look at an image of the same woman standing in a pair of the supportive sandals I recommend. Do you notice how her feet are a lot straighter? The substantial outsole of the sandal is preventing the woman’s feet from collapsing.
In addition, these sandals come with a footbed that provides an internal support mechanism that is anatomically engineered to provide excellent arch support and cradle the natural contours of the foot.
I have been working for a specialized shoe store for the last 10 years and I am an expert when it comes to fitting women’s shoes. Moreover, I have been helping women find the correct type of shoes and orthotics to reduce or fully eliminate the foot and leg pain that they were having. We specialize in women with foot and leg problems, but we provide regular shoe fitting as well as different styles for sandals.
I have noticed that something so simple such as wearing a pair of shoes with arch support has a tremendous impact on the way you walk. However, you also need to keep in mind that overpronation can come from the ankles too. So, if your ankles are turning inwards or outwards it will result in your feet not being able to be straight.

Features of Sandals for Overpronation – Keep Your Feet Healthy with Keen!
Keen sandals provide key features that are optimal for women with overpronation. Please take a look at these features below:
✅ Arch Support/Shock Absorption: This feature helps prevent your feet from collapsing and turning inwards. The shock absorption reduces the impact that your feet take every time they come in contact with the ground and relieve the stress on your feet and legs.
✅ Ankle Support: This feature helps protect and support your ankles.
✅ Good Traction: Keen sandals provide great traction, so you can confidently walk around on wet surfaces.
✅ Adjustable hook-and-loop strap: This will allow you to put them on and take them off easily.
✅ Lightweight and Flexible: While these sandals are supportive, they are still lightweight and flexible to prevent your feet and legs from easily getting tired. Your sandals should always bend at the ball of the foot but no further. Although, it’s important for your sandals to be flexible but not too flexible, otherwise they won’t provide enough support.
Physical therapists also recommend this particular Keen sandal for women who have foot issues such as overpronation, rolled ankles, or foot and leg pain.

The Best Women’s Sandals for Overpronation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Note that sandals can run short, long, narrow, or wide, and depending on how they run you will need to adjust the size that you get for yourself.
You always want to wear half a size longer than the size that you measure in the shoe measuring scale to prevent your toes from rubbing against the side or the front of the shoes.
To prevent your toes from rubbing against the front or side part of the sandals, I highly recommend that you order these sandals half a size larger than the size that your feet measure. This translates to 0.3 inches or 0.6 centimeters of space between your longest toe and the end of the sandals.
Complications of Overpronation – Take Prompt Action!
You should be aware that overpronation leads to strain on the big and second toe and impacts the stability of the foot. The excessive rotation of the foot can lead to more rotation of the tibia in the lower leg, making yourself more prone to knee pain and shin splints (also referred to as medial tibial stress syndrome).
Due to overpronation, there is also an elevated risk of injury and heel pain that may be the result of the stress on the ligaments and tendons of the foot.
Lastly, overpronation could lead to the following minor to severe foot issues:
- Back and hip pain
- Foot rigidity
- Ankle sprain and foot instability
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Hammer toes and claw toes
If you notice any of these symptoms, start by consulting a doctor or physical therapist. They will be able to lead you on to the next steps to take, which could be wearing good supportive shoes, be fitted for an orthotic, or both!
