Have you been looking for extra wide shoes for your problem feet? Do you have any foot condition that you are aware of or are you experiencing foot pain?

The foot is one of the most complex parts of the body. It is comprised of 26 bones connected by many muscles, joints, tendons, and ligaments. Problem feet can cause mild to severe pain, inflammation, and all of these shouldn’t be taken lightly as it can result in having limited mobility.

There are many different reasons and factors that can affect the ligaments, heels, toes, nerves, tendons, and joints of the foot. When we refer to problem feet we are usually talking about some the most common foot conditions among women, such as flat feet, overpronation, bunions, and blisters.

Problem feet are the consequence of neglecting your foot health and making bad decisions of wearing ill-fitting shoes, or shoes in the correct size, specially if you extra wide feet.

Keep in mind that poorly fitting shoes can worsen and, in some cases, cause these foot problems. On the other hand, shoes that provide the FIT and give the right amount of support can prevent these foot issues.

Remember it doesn’t matter how many features a particular shoe style provides, if the shoe is not fitted properly, you will not get any of the benefits that the shoes have to offer. What’s even worse, you can end up creating all of the above-mentioned foot issues.

You are in good hands as I have vast knowledge when it comes to fitting women ’s shoes since I have been working in a specialized shoe store for over 10 years. In addition, I have been helping women find the correct type of shoes and orthotics to reduce or fully eliminate the foot and leg pain that they were having. While we specialize in women with foot and leg problems, we also provide regular shoe fittings.

I have fitted many women with extra wide feet and with different foot issues, in the correct pair of shoes, and I know which shoe styles work better than others.

I will provide you with a selection of the best extra wide shoes for problem feet, but first I want to provide you with all the relevant information that you need to know in order to make a well-informed decision.

Defiing Problem Feet — Most Common Foot Issues!

In order to determine what are the best shoes for you, we need to know what your foot issue is to also know what is causing your foot pain (if applicable). So, let’s begin by defining and being clear on what each of the following foot conditions are:

Flat Feet & Overpronation

Flat feet is a condition in which the arches of the feet roll inwards or downwards when walking, and it is also commonly known and referred as overpronation.

When women overpronate, they put pressure in parts of their bodies where they are not supposed to, and this leads to foot and leg pain, as well as other serious issues in the future such as lower back problems.

Bunions and Blisters

bunion is a bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of your big or little toe. It forms when your big toe/little toe pushes against your next toe, forcing the joint of your big toe/little toe to get bigger and stick out. Sometimes, the skin over the bunion might be a little bit red and/or sore.

blister is a small pocket of body fluid (lymph, serum, plasma, blood, or pus) within the upper layers of the skin, typically caused by forceful rubbing (friction), burning, freezing, chemical exposure or infection. Most blisters are filled with a clear fluid, either serum or plasma.

They are often painful and can make it difficult to walk with. It’s this simple, if your shoes fit well, you won’t have blisters!

All of these problem feet can affect the alignment of your body as you are standing, walking, or running. They can also increase the likelihood that you experience foot, ankle, kneehip, and even lower back pain.

High Insteps

The instep is the top part of the foot, and when it’s high, it makes it really hard to find shoes that fit. If you always feel like your shoes squeeze the top part of your feet, then it’s highly likely that you have a high instep. In order to accommodate a high instep, I always recommend trying shoes that provide extra depth.

Shoes that are extra deep will allow your feet to fit deeply inside the shoes, and prevent the top part of your feet from rubbing against the top part of the shoes.

Regardless of your foot condition, you must wear a pair of good supportive shoes and in the correct size.

Which brings me to my next point, are you 100% sureyou know your correct foot size?

Bear in mind that shoes can run shortlongnarrow, or wide, and depending on how they run you will need to adjust the size that you get for yourself.

I always recommend wearing a half a size longer of the size that you measure in the shoe measuring scale to prevent your toes from rubbing against the side or the front of the shoes.

Note that all of these shoe styles fit “true to size”, which means that you need a half a size longer of the size that you measure in the standard foot measuring scale (Brannock device) in order to prevent your toes from rubbing against the side or the front of the shoes.
