Why Is It So Important To Wear The Correct Cleat Size?

Playing soccer involves a combination of jogs, sprints, stops and pivots. That’s a lot of abuse to your feet!

If you have played a particular sport before, you will know that during that time you are stressing your feet and legs at a whole different level. During soccer games or soccer practice, there is a huge risk for skin injuries to the foot, which will lead to annoyance and create discomfort which may require treatment.

1-Start with leaving the top two eyelets of the shoe open.


2-Go through the top hole first.


3-Go through the holes you left open

I always explain to women that choosing the correct sock size has the same importance as choosing the correct shoe size. You won’t be comfortable in your cleats if you are not wearing the correct sock style and the correct sock size.

Socks that are too small or too long will fold inside the shoe and create friction points on the skin. You must also avoid socks that are too bulky since they will also fold inside the shoe.

Socks act as a barrier between your feet and your shoes. Most sport socks come padded in the bottom, to properly cushion your shoes and make you feel comfortable when running. Soccer socks also tend to come padded in the bottom of the foot and around the ankle, which will help reduce the friction between your foot and the shoe, and prevent blisters and calluses from forming.

While most women believe that cotton is the best type of sock material they can get, they are not aware that cotton absorbs sweat but doesn’t repel it. Any of those three types of foot conditions will affect your gameplay tremendously, to the point that they might lead to other more severe foot and leg injuries.

When you are feeling the pain from a blister for example, it will cause you to change the bio-mechanics of your gait. This will make you more prone to injure your ankles, knees, or hips because your joints are not used to being stressed in this new way.

Also, every time you run you will feel the friction between the shoe and the blister, which will affect your ability to play at your full potential (your speed and agility will be decreased due to the pain).
