Have you been looking for soccer cleats to FIT your wide or extra wide feet? Do you normally go to shoe stores where they tell you how certain soccer shoes run wider than others but don’t really offer cleats that actually come in wide or extra wide widths?
I have been working for a family shoe store for over 7 years, and I know everything that relates to shoes and the way they FIT. This is a specialized shoe store where we help people with foot and leg issues, but we provide regular shoe fitting as well. It doesn’t matter what type of shape your feet are, there is always going to be at least one particular shoe that will FIT the shape of your feet perfectly.
In order to help every single customer that comes through the doors, we must carry shoe brands and shoe styles that come in different styles and widths such as narrow, medium, wide, and extra wide. This has made me familiar with all the best fitting shoes in the market.
I have spoken with several women who constantly complained about how they can’t wear a certain type of shoe because it’s not wide enough or it doesn’t come in their particular shoe size.
Please keep in mind that whether you are involved in a particular activity or a specific sport, there are shoes that will FIT the shape of your feet no matter in spite of how wide or how narrow they are.
When it comes to soccer cleats, I have spoken with several women who explained me how they had to STOP playing the sport due to developing blisters and calluses on their feet since they couldn’t find cleats that were wide enough for their feet.
It is extremely important to wear the correct shoe size when playing soccer since our feet will move and turn in all different type of directions. When we are playing a sport we are stressing our feet and legs at a whole different level, and if the cleats don’t fit properly, you will create all sorts of different foot problems such as blisters, calluses, and corns.
Until I found the correct type of cleats, I had to deal with blisters and calluses all the time which not only affected the way I played, but also affected the way I walked and run for several days.
You will also be more likely to develop foot and leg pain, since in order to not put pressure in the blister or callus you will be turning your feet in different ways, which will lead to stressing parts of your feet and legs that you are not used to.
I believe soccer is an amazing sport and it has been a part of my life for almost 20 years. I have been playing soccer since I was a child, and it took me a long time to find a pair of cleats to fit the shape of my feet perfectly, but once I did, I never looked back!
We must prevent and avoid developing blisters, which are a common condition that affect soccer players at all levels. You will notice how they normally appear on the back of the heel, sole of the foot, and in the small toe as well.
Wide soccer cleats for women are NOT easy to find!
If you are a woman with wide or extra wide feet who likes to play soccer, I will describe in this post the BEST and ONLY soccer shoe style that is actually available in wide and extra wide widths! If you have a high instep, this shoe style will also fit the shape of your feet perfectly.
Why Is It So Important To Wear The Correct Cleat Size?
Playing soccer involves a combination of jogs, sprints, stops and pivots. That’s a lot of abuse to your feet!
If you have played a particular sport before, you will know that during that time you are stressing your feet and legs at a whole different level. During soccer games or soccer practice there is a huge risk for skin injuries to the foot, which will lead to annoyance and create discomfort which may require treatment.
If you are feeling discomfort when walking and running you should check if you have developed a blister. So how can you tell if you have developed a blister?
You will notice pain, redness, swelling and fluid underneath skin.
When playing soccer there is a lot of friction between your feet and the shoes, since you are making a lot of sudden stops and moving side to side. If you are wearing a shoe that is too narrow, you will create a lot of problems to your feet.
Once you develop a blister, it can develop into a corn (which is really hard to get rid of) and you will feel a lot of pain every time you take a step or try to run around the field.
You must AVOID wearing cleats that are too big or cleats that are too small. If the cleat is too big the foot will move too much inside the shoe which will lead to creating constant friction. Cleats that are too small will create pressure points and as you move the skin will rub against shoe.
The soccer cleats that you choose must FIT just right!
Wearing the correct type of soccer cleats will keep your feet and legs healthy, and will allow you to only focus on your game and not your feet hurting.
How Can Blisters, Calluses, Or Corns Affect The Way You Play?
Any of those three types of foot conditions will affect your game play tremendously, to the point that they might lead to other more severe foot and leg injuries.
When you are feeling the pain from a blister for example, it will cause you to change the bio-mechanics of your gait. This will make you more prone to injure your ankles, knees, or hips because your joints are not used to being stressed in this new way.
Also, every time you run you will feel the friction between the shoe and the blister, which will affect your ability to play at your full potential (your speed and agility will be decreased due to the pain). TRUST ME, I have played soccer with blisters before and they definitely will affect the way you play!
There is a very simple way to prevent these issues, wear the correct cleat size and the correct cleat style! This might sound like a simple thing to do, but for those women with wide and extra wide feet it’s hard to find cleats that FIT!
Below, I will share the secret with you and describe the best soccer cleats for women with wide or extra wide feet!
The Best Soccer Cleats For Women With Extra Wide Feet!
Now that you know the importance of wearing the correct pair of soccer cleats, you are ready to see which is the style that comes in wide and extra wide widths.
Do you know how to get the correct shoe size? Do you have a local shoe store that you trust measuring your feet and FITTING you in the correct cleat size?
One common mistake women make is to assume that whatever shoe size they measure it automatically translates into their actual shoe size. Please trust me when I tell you that every shoe style runs and fits different, so your shoe size is just a starting point when it comes to finding shoes that FIT.
It’s important to know how to get your correct shoe size, specially for those women who don’t have a local shoe store in their area they they trust. I wrote a post where I explain the most simple and effective way on how to make sure you are getting the correct shoe size and you can find it here!
Now that you know how to make sure you are wearing the correct shoe size, below you can find the best women soccer cleat style that is available in wide and extra wide widths!
I want you to take a look at the two pictures below. In the first picture I am wearing a pair Nike soccer cleats that I used to wear before I found out about the soccer shoe brand named Zephz.
Notice how my small toe (pinky toe) is being pressed against the side of the shoe by the other toes. This used to lead to blisters on my small toe and make it really hard for me to run around the soccer field.
Below you can find a close up of the same shoe style
In the third picture, I am wearing the soccer cleat made by Zephz (the men’s version) in a wide width. Notice how there is no pressure in the widest part of my foot, and my small toe is not being pressed against the side of the shoe anymore.
IMPORTANT TIP: Always make sure you tie your shoelaces tight, since the tighter the shoelaces, the more stable you will feel on the field. There is a particular way I tie my soccer shoes which I love since it really hugs my feet and secures my ankles, I called this technique the “reverse the laces technique”.
Follow these three easy steps:
1-Start with leaving the top two eyelets of the shoe open.
2-Go through the top hole first.
3-Go through the holes you left open
You are all done! You will notice a difference right away!
You will feel how this shoe tying method will push your foot back and secure your heels! The soccer cleat will feel much snugger around your feet, like it’s hugging it better, making you feel more confident and stable when running.
The Best Socks For Playing Soccer – The Secret Revealed!
I always explain to women that choosing the correct sock size has the same importance as choosing the correct shoe size. You won’t be comfortable in your cleats if you are not wearing the correct sock style and the correct sock size.
Socks act as a barrier between your feet and the shoes. Most sport socks come padded in the bottom, to properly cushion your shoes and make you feel comfortable when running. Soccer socks also tend to come padded in the bottom of the foot and around the ankle, which will help reduce the friction between your foot and the shoe, and prevent blisters and calluses from forming.
Socks that are too small or too long will fold inside the shoe and create friction points on the skin. You must also avoid socks that are too bulky since they will also fold inside the shoe.
Did you know that sweaty feet leads to increased friction compared to dry feet? That’s why it’s so important to find a pair of soccer socks that FIT properly but that are also BREATHABLE.
While most people believe that cotton is the best type of sock material they can get, they are not aware that cotton absorbs sweat but doesn’t repel it. However, the new athletic/soccer sock made of acrylic and synthetic materials will wick the moisture away from your feet, limit the friction, and provide seams that are designed to avoid pressure points.
Always change your soccer socks as soon as the game is over and switch to a pair of dry ones.
