Are you having the hardest time finding a pair of cowboys boots that are capable of fitting the shape of your wide feet? Do you always struggle to get your cowboy boots on and once you do they put too much pressure on your feet? Several women with wide feet have contacted me explaining how they can’t wear cowboy boots because they all feel too tight. I am here to tell you that there are a few cowboy boots that can fit the shape of your wide feet, and I will help you find them.

Wearing a pair of cowboy boots that are too narrow might lead to foot issues such as blisters, calluses, or corns. Unfortunately, most cowboy boots are only available in the traditional style: a pointed toe with a narrow foot. However, don’t be fooled to believe that cowboy boots are not capable of fitting women with wide feet.

I have heard several stories of women who were told that cowboy boots in wide widths don’t exist. I know for a fact that cowboy boots for women with wide feet do exist, and I am going to show you a list of the best wide width cowboy boots for women shortly.

My Experience Helping Women with Wide Feet Find Cowboy Boots

I have been fitting women’s shoes for over 10 years. I work for a specialized shoe store that helps women with “complicated” foot shapes (narrow, extra wide, high instep) and foot conditions find the correct pair of shoes for their feet. Over the years I became familiar with the best wide width cowboy boots for women.

How to Choose the Correct Type of Cowboy Boot for Women with Wide Feet

There’s a lot that goes into choosing the right pair of cowboy boots for your wide feet. Whether you are looking for a pair of well-fitted cowboy boots for riding a horse safely or to make a fashion statement, it’s important that they fit the shape of your feet correctly. I have fitted certain cowboy boots that are deeper and provide round toe-boxes instead of pointy ones, and they are also available in wide widths.

What Makes the Cowboy Boots that I Recommend Ideal for Wide Feet?

Instead of the toe coming to a narrow point, the front part of the boots that I recommend have a broader and rounder toe-box. This shape gives you more room inside the boot for your toes and instep. The leather, style, and maker of the boot affect how the boot fits your foot.

Let me help you visualize which are the 3 most important features that the cowboy boots that I recommend provide:

Extra Depth: The cowboy boots that I recommend provide extra depth, meaning that they will allow your feet to sit deeply inside of the boots, preventing the top part of your feet (instep) from rubbing against the top part of the boots. This is a very important feature, especially if you have a high instep. Take a look at the image below for better visualization purposes:

Round Toe-Boxes: The cowboy boots that I recommend also provide rounder toe-boxes, which help prevent your toes from rubbing against the side or front part of the boots. Take a look at the image below for better visualization purposes:

Available in Wide Widths (W): All of the boots that I recommend are available in wide widths, so make sure that you choose the wide width option.

Because each shoe brand and style fit differently, you should get your feet properly measured at your local shoe store.

Your foot shape and size can change over time, and some of the factors that contribute to this change are pregnancy, aging and weight gain or loss. Over time and because of gravity, our feet might get longer and wider.

As we age, the body’s ligaments and tendons lose their strength and ability to spring back. This means that our arches decrease, which flattens and lengthens the foot and toes.

This often results in an increase in shoe size by a half-size or more. You might also experience a change in foot width, meaning that even though you always ordered medium width shoes now you might have to start ordering wider shoes.

How to Find Out Your Exact Foot Length

So, you are confident that you have wide feet, but do you know your exact foot length? Do you know whether you have a high instep or not? If you usually order your shoes online you must know your exact foot length, as that’s the only way to know what shoe size to order online.

Don’t insist on getting your shoes in a specific size simply because that has been the size that they always wore. I usually have to insist to them that they need to at least try the shoes in a different size to see how they feel.

Can These Boots Fit Women with High Insteps?

This depends on how high your instep is. Some women have very high insteps, which makes it extra challenging to find shoes that fit. You can definitely try the cowboy boots that I recommend and check whether they will fit your high instep or not, as there are no other cowboy boots that are deeper or wider than the ones I recommended.

How Are Cowboy Boots Supposed to Fit?

Your cowboy boots should be snug, but not too tight. You should have enough room to move your toes a bit and wiggle them around without putting any strain on the tips of your toes. There shouldn’t be any pressure on the top part of your feet (instep) or on your pinky toe (small toe). Make sure that you don’t have any pressure points when walking.

Do These Cowboy Boots Work for Women with Wide Calves?

If you have wide calves that doesn’t have to stop you from wearing cowboy boots. The cowboy boots that I recommend have a design that are cut a little wider which makes them ideal for women with calves.

Why Are Cowboy Boots for Women with Wide Feet Hard to Find?

Cowboy boot brands mainly produce boots for regular feet (medium width). The most common reason why shoe companies don’t manufacture more boots in wide widths is profit. Did you know that the cost of mass produced shoes is kept low by producing only the most common styles (medium width)? The fewer variations there are, the less the cost is for shoe companies. So, for women with wide feet like yours, it gets harder to find boots that fit.

Finding a pair of cowboy boots for women with wide feet can be a time-consuming and frustrating experience. The 3 cowboy boots that I recommended are the widest and deepest ones that I have fitted before, and they are available in wide widths.
